NinerReport Message Board: Talk About It I Follow Niner Report on Twitter!
Wes Morgan might be a new name to the scene for Charlotte 49er fans, but the coaching staff have been on him for the past few months. In fact, the young and talented prospect got his first chance to see what the Charlotte program had to offer when he made the short trip down the road to check out the campus, facilites, and coaching staff on Wednesday.

Niner Report quickly got in touch with the 6'6, 175-pound prospect from Ardrey Kell High School after his visit and it seemed to go very well for him.
"I got to talk to everybody on the staff," Morgan said. "Talked to Coach Mark Price and saw the weight room, practice facility, arena, and they took me on a golf cart to see the campus. We had some good talks too. The campus is beautiful."
Even though he doesn't hold a current offer from the 49ers, they seem to be very high the in-state prospect, who is only part of the 2017 class. In fact, he hopes that an offer may come soon, as the staff is hoping to get a better look at him down the road.
"They are going to come and visit me this September at school for a workout and open gym," he said. "It could very well come then. I'm a knockdown shooter and so is Coach Price. I'm very confident in myself about earning that offer."
Being already at 6'6 and can shoot the ball, there isn't much not to like about this intriguing shooting guard. Morgan is capable of hitting the inside shot or stretch the floor and knock down shots behind the arc. In fact, he recently won the three point contect at the Wofford Elite Camp this August, knocking down 22 three's in under a minute.
With his background as a shooter and the background of Coach Price, the two seem to developing a bond quickly, something that Morgan notices early on in their relationship.
"As a shooter, to be coached by one of the best ever shooters is one of a kind," he replied. "He is going to have a shooting system which is like heaven for a shooter like me. And (the campus) is close to home, so I have a lot of friends and family to support me."
As far as recruiting, Morgan holds offers currently from UNC-Greensboro, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Lees McCrae, but is also getting interest from several mid-major and high-major programs such as James Madison, College of Charleston, Georgia, Siena, Winthrop, Grand Canyon, BYU, Wichita State, Xavier, Crieghton, Wofford, and George Washington.
Charlotte though was his first trip that he has taken recently, while he also has visits planned to James Madison on Sept.5 and College of Charleston on Sept. 12. But even though he is steadily gaining offers and interests, while also visiting, Morgan has no plan on making a decision any time soon and just wants to enjoy the ride.
"I am considering everything and everyone as of now, just enjoying the process and visiting schools," Morgan said. "I have two more years of high school, so I want to enjoy the process as much as I can because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I've been so blessed to be able to have. I would love to have that Charlotte offer!"
Being in the Charlotte area though, Morgan has plans to come back to Charlotte as soon as he can. "They invited me to come and play pick-up with the team and workout whenever I wanted."
Ardrey Kell went 28-2 last season, with Morgan averaging 2.4 points per game as a sophomore. However, entering in his junior year, expect Morgan to take a big step forward and be a big part of the Knights system this upcoming season.
